I really like your review, and I was particularly interested in the clipboard. When you do a capture of text, do you know if the camera will be able to convert it to plain text so you can copy it to a text editor? If so, that would be pretty nuts.

BTW, do you happen to know if this is still on the market, or only used

You missed the really big item about this camera: it's a 10x zoom that starts at *28mm*, not 35mm. So it's both an ultra-wide field of view lens AND a 10x zoom. And a compact camera. It's also not just a 7.2 megapixel: it's actually an 8.5 megapixel, spread in such a way that it's 7.2 megapixels no matter which of three different aspect ratios you select (4:3 clear to 16:9). This is literally the only camera like this on the market.

I've been researching this for a month and know this is the camera I want. I've been waiting for costco to carry the item, but my local warehouse has the older TZ1 as well as costco.com. Which Costco did you buy yours at?

Søren: Sure, I'd be glad to.

I used it quite a bit today (Easter and all), and I was pretty happy with the results. The pictures came out much better than my old camera (but remember, it is about 5 years old at this point). There was little to no motion blur when the kids were swinging or on the trampoline. The shots all turned out great. The camera turned on instantly and was ready for me to use within two seconds. And, most importantly, it took pictures very quickly and I didn't have to wait long (in most cases) before taking another one.

I've looking at buying the exact same camera (mainly because it has a great lens). Like you say the feature set is impressive. I was wondering if I could persuade you into doing a similar review in a couple of weeks when you've had more time to play with?
